The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai has unveiled impressive advancements through its “Neighbourhood Mosques” program, which has seen community contributions surpassing AED 5.7 million in the first quarter of 2026.

Focusing on the enhancement of mosque facilities, this initiative strives to elevate the worship experience. Notably, over 30 mosques received new carpeting, costing more than AED 2 million. Additionally, approximately 35 mosques gained maintenance and sponsorship support valued at over AED 3.7 million annually.

A substantial part of this project involved the installation of high-quality carpet across an area of about 15,500 square meters, fostering a more welcoming and secure environment for worshippers while boosting operational efficiency.

This initiative addresses the demands of Dubai's expanding urban population, ensuring that mosques remain well-resourced and accessible. It reinforces the essential role of mosques as community centers that nurture social bonds, shared principles, and enhanced living standards.

Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, IACAD’s Director General, noted that the growth of this initiative signifies a surge in community involvement and responsibility. He remarked on the public's contributions, which showcase a robust culture of philanthropy in the UAE and a dedication to the upkeep of mosques.

He added that this initiative embodies a sustainable alliance between the community and IACAD, transforming charitable efforts into lasting advantages for future generations. These projects solidify mosques as bastions of unity and societal stability.

Mohammed Jassim Al Mansoori, from the Customer Service Department overseeing the initiative, remarked that these outcomes underline the community’s trust in IACAD’s programs. He noted the project effectively translates community involvement into actionable improvements, enhancing mosque services to meet worshipper expectations.

In summary, the “Neighbourhood Mosques” initiative remains integral to Dubai's vision of fostering a connected, sustainable, and community-oriented society.
