Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, announced that the Zayed National Museum is slated to open in December 2025, coinciding with the UAE's 54th National Day. He referred to this event as a landmark moment in the nation's cultural journey, emphasizing that the museum will be a centerpiece of the Saadiyat Cultural District, encapsulating the story of the UAE.

He elaborated that the museum will be a reflection of the UAE’s essence, portraying its historical narrative and future vision with sincerity, while paying homage to the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

According to Al Mubarak, Abu Dhabi's cultural initiatives are grounded in the understanding that preserving heritage fosters societal strength and serves as a bridge among communities. The Zayed National Museum will integrate these values and stand alongside other significant institutions on Saadiyat Island, creating a network of cultural sites that underscores the UAE's dedication to creativity and scholarship.

The museum will engage visitors with both personal and shared narratives, tracing back to the UAE's ancient history of 300,000 years through to its modern milestones. Key attractions will include the Abu Dhabi Pearl, one of the oldest natural pearls, and a reconstruction of the Magan boat, reflecting ancient cultural links. These will be complemented by innovative multimedia exhibits and unique archival materials, designed to educate future generations about the UAE’s past.

Highlighting Sheikh Zayed's enduring values, such as conservation, unity, and education, Al Mubarak emphasized that the museum aims not only to conserve history but also to foster learning, dialogue, and international cooperation. It will feature exhibitions exploring topics like archaeology and sustainability illustrated through the lens of the nation’s heritage.

He commended the museum's architecture, designed by Foster + Partners, consisting of five towers modeled after a falcon's wings. This structure will employ sustainable cooling technologies, showcasing traditional Emirati ingenuity and aligning with Sheikh Zayed's vision of environmental stewardship.
