Emirati Artists Unite Science and Art at Xposure 2026

Curiosity has long been a key element of Emirati heritage, leading generations in the exploration of land, sea, and culture. This spirit of inquiry shines brightly in photography, where Emirati artists fuse science, nature, and emotion to create captivating visual stories.

During the 10th Xposure International Photography Festival, three Emirati photographers will unveil distinct bodies of work focused on the realms of astronomy, micro-science, and conceptual art. Their varied viewpoints showcase a new generation adeptly merging tradition with modernity.

Celestial Wonders: Yousuf Al Qasimi

Yousuf Al Qasimi, a photographer skilled in capturing the night sky and a member of the Emirates Astronomical Society, presents stunning images of nebulae, star clusters, and meteor showers. His astrophotography rekindles humanity’s connection with the cosmos. Additionally, Al Qasimi explores extreme weather, capturing the beauty of lightning storms and supercells. His exhibit, The Sky – Within and Beyond, showcased in the Nature zone, offers viewers a compelling view of the sky’s majestic power.

Microcosmic Wonders: Rashed Alsumaiti

Rashed Alsumaiti takes audiences on a journey into the invisible through advanced micro-photography. His transformative work turns ordinary materials like salt and vitamin C crystals into stunning abstract landscapes. Featured in the Fine Art and Creative Expression zone, Dancing Crystals blurs the lines separating art from science. With his roots in landscape photography since 2009, Alsumaiti continually dives into nature’s intricate details, experimenting with scale and perception.

Exploring Emotional Depth: Ghada Ahmed Al Qasimi

Ghada Ahmed Al Qasimi utilizes photography to delve into themes of memory, silence, and intricate emotions. Her series Silence, also appearing in the Fine Art zone, invites personal contemplation through its nuanced composition and repetition.
