Vietnam Celebrates Excellence in Cooperatives with Star Awards

On April 10, 2026, Hanoi hosted a prestigious ceremony celebrating the cooperative sector, where Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung presented the Cooperative Star Award and the Mai An Tiem Award.

Marking 80 years since Ho Chi Minh urged farmers and landowners to form agricultural cooperatives, this event underscored their pivotal role in Vietnam's progress.

The ceremony saw attendance from senior officials and leaders of national organizations, highlighting the cooperative sector's significance. A total of 100 cooperatives were recognized for their remarkable innovation and contributions to the nation’s economic advancement.

In his address, leaders discussed the transformation of cooperatives from small rural entities into essential players in Vietnam’s economy. Today, there are over 34,880 cooperatives with about 5.7 million members, making substantial contributions to job creation and income.

Deputy PM Ho Quoc Dung commended the success of the collective economic sector, stressing that cooperatives are crucial for innovation, digital advancement, and sustainable growth. He urged them to embrace modern technology to boost their competitiveness in international markets.

The government reiterated its commitment to fostering green and circular economic practices, enhancing product quality, and establishing stronger value chain connections between cooperatives and businesses. This strategy is aimed at optimizing their presence in both domestic and global markets.

Looking forward, authorities pledged to bolster cooperatives via enhanced policies and legal frameworks. The Deputy Prime Minister called on all parties to support self-sufficiency, creativity, and partnership to guarantee the cooperative sector's sustainable development in the future.
