Vietnam's 2026 Elections Achieve Exceptional Voter Engagement

Vietnam has completed its national elections for 2026, marking a historic record in voter participation. Official statistics reveal that over 76 million voters cast their ballots at more than 72,000 polling stations, culminating in an impressive turnout rate of 99.7 percent. The elections aimed to elect representatives for the 16th National Assembly and local People's Councils for the term spanning 2026–2031.

Nguyen Thi Thanh remarked that the elections proceeded smoothly, highlighting the effective collaboration among government bodies and political organizations. She pointed out that all 500 National Assembly deputies have been successfully elected, demonstrating meticulous planning and implementation throughout the electoral process.

Public participation was notably high in major urban centers such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where voting occurred without delays, even in the face of large populations. Authorities confirmed that the electoral process was characterized by transparency and security, with significantly fewer complaints than observed in prior elections.
