India’s young batting talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi produced a remarkable performance in Dubai on Friday, scoring an impressive 171 runs against hosts UAE. The match was India’s opening game of the Under-19 Men’s Asia Cup 2025 and was played at the ICC Academy Ground. His powerful innings helped India begin the tournament on a confident note.
The 14-year-old left-handed batter showed great confidence from the start of his innings. He attacked the UAE bowlers with ease and played shots to all parts of the ground. Suryavanshi reached his century in just 56 balls, which highlighted his aggressive mindset and excellent timing. The young batter did not slow down after reaching the milestone and continued to dominate the bowling attack.
He struck the ball cleanly and punished any loose deliveries. His ability to hit boundaries and sixes regularly kept the fielding side under pressure throughout his stay at the crease. Suryavanshi was eventually dismissed for 171 while attempting a paddle sweep shot. Spinner Uddish Suri bowled him as the ball slipped past his bat and crashed into the stumps.
His innings included nine fours and fourteen sixes. He fell just six runs short of breaking the Youth One-Day International record for the highest individual score. The record of 177 runs was set by Ambati Rayudu in 2002 and continues to stand as the highest score in Youth ODI cricket.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who hails from Bihar, has already achieved several milestones despite his young age. He holds the record for the fastest century in Youth ODI cricket, which he achieved in 52 balls against England. He is also the youngest player to score a century in the format. The innings against UAE marked his second Youth ODI hundred, adding to the 143 runs he scored against England earlier this year.
This outstanding performance came less than a month after he delivered another stunning innings against the same UAE side. During the Asia Cup Rising Stars T20 tournament in Doha, Suryavanshi smashed 144 runs off just 42 balls, once again showing his fearless batting style and ability to score at a rapid pace.
Earlier this month, the young batter also created history in Indian domestic cricket. Playing for Bihar in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he became the youngest player ever to score a century in the tournament. His consistent performances across formats have drawn attention and praise from cricket followers.
The Under-19 Asia Cup is considered an important tournament for young players as it helps prepare teams for the 2026 Under-19 ODI World Cup. Suryavanshi’s commanding innings has given India a strong boost early in the competition. His performance has not only strengthened India’s position in the tournament but has also highlighted his potential as a future star of Indian cricket.
