The United Nations Security Council has issued a strong condemnation of the series of lethal terrorist attacks that occurred in multiple locations in Mali on April 25 and May 6, 2026, resulting in numerous casualties and injuries.

In a formal statement made public on Friday, the Security Council members labeled the attacks as “atrocious and despicable” while conveying their heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families.

The Council emphasized the necessity to bring all individuals linked to these attacks to justice, including the attackers, organizers, financiers, and those who support terrorism. Members requested expeditious legal action against the offenders.

The Security Council also reiterated that terrorism, in all its forms, poses a substantial threat to global peace and security. Members urged countries to collaborate effectively in combating terrorism, adhering to established international law.

This statement comes in response to escalating international anxiety regarding the security landscape in Mali, where terrorist acts continue to disrupt civilian life and threaten regional stability.
