Iran referred to historic battles while reacting to Donald Trump’s comments on a possible agreement
Abu Dhabi — In a momentous event, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the third ordinary session of the 18th legislative chapter of the Federal National Council (FNC) on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This opening signifies a key moment in the nation's political landscape, showcasing the UAE’s swift progress in governance and development.
The inauguration was graced by the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, alongside Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, senior officials, dignitaries, and members of the diplomatic community. Their attendance underscores the significance of the annual session.
The proceedings commenced with the reading of Federal Decree No. (151) of 2025, issued by the President, which formally convened the new session. The formal ambiance laid the groundwork for what is projected to be a year of continued national progress.
FNC Speaker His Excellency Saqr Ghobash provided an insightful opening address, proclaiming 2025 as a remarkable year for the UAE. He underscored the nation’s enhanced global standing in areas such as competitiveness, economic stability, security, innovation, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and overall quality of life. Additionally, he remarked on the growing soft power influence of the UAE on the world stage.
Ghobash also highlighted the proclamations for 2025 as the Year of Community and 2026 as the Year of the Family, emphasizing the country's commitment to social values, togetherness, and national duty. The federal budget approved for 2026, which is the largest in UAE history, reflects robust economic confidence and sustained developmental ambitions.
He reiterated the UAE's steadfast stance on humanitarian and regional concerns, including the ongoing support for the Palestinian people and initiatives aimed at fostering dialogue, coexistence, and peace.
As this session commences, the FNC is set to advance its constitutional duties, in alignment with the leadership’s vision for a future-oriented nation.
