High-ranking representatives from the United Arab Emirates and the United Nations convened to explore enhanced cooperation in energy sustainability and water resource management.

His Excellency Abdulla Balalaa met with Her Excellency Amina J. Mohammed, focusing on fostering international partnerships and innovative approaches to advance sustainable development goals.

A significant part of their discussion revolved around the preparations for the much-anticipated United Nations Water Conference 2026, jointly hosted by the UAE and Senegal in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10, 2026.

The conference aims to establish a vital global platform for addressing water-related issues, seeking to build partnerships, attract financing, and enhance international commitment toward water security and sustainable practices.

H.E. Abdulla Balalaa emphasized the UAE's ongoing commitment to collaborating with the United Nations and global partners to ensure the conference's success. He mentioned the UAE's openness to global investments in water resilience and best practices for sustainable management.

Both parties recognized the essential role of water in sustainable development, resilience to climate impacts, food security, and economic advancement. They reiterated the necessity for stronger multilateral efforts to confront global water challenges.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to adopt an action-oriented strategy involving governments, international organizations, financial institutions, and the private sector to achieve tangible solutions for Sustainable Development Goal 6, which prioritizes clean water and sanitation.
