In a significant meeting held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates and India engaged in high-level discussions to deepen their bilateral relationship. Co-chaired by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and India's External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the talks saw participation from prominent leaders of both nations.
This gathering not only marked the Sixteenth Session of the UAE–India Joint Committee but also included the Fifth Strategic Dialogue, emphasizing the advancement of ties between the two countries and underscoring the robust political connectivity they share.
The meeting included a wide array of senior ministers and officials, reflecting a strong commitment to enhance collaboration. Both nations agreed to pursue joint efforts in political, economic, cultural, and educational sectors for mutual gain.
During the discussions, progress achieved through the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) was reviewed. This agreement has significantly boosted trade between the UAE and India, steering them closer to the ambitious target of reaching $100 billion in bilateral trade.
The leaders acknowledged advancements in digital payment systems, highlighting the integration of India's UPI with the UAE's AANI platform, alongside the adoption of RuPay and JAYWAN cards. These initiatives promise to expedite transactions, lower costs, and support businesses and travelers alike.
Education also took center stage during the discussions. The two sides recognized the Gandhi–Zayed Center for Peace, Tolerance and Sustainability Studies as a pivotal project, commending the swift progression of IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi as a beacon of academic collaboration and quality.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed remarked that the ongoing enhancement of relations reflects the foresight of both nations’ leadership. The meeting concluded with the signing of official minutes, signifying another crucial stride in fortifying the strategic partnership between the UAE and India.
