UAE Excels in Economy, AI, Renewable Energy, and Space Exploration

In a special report released by the GCC Statistical Centre (GCC-STAT) for its 54th Eid Al Etihad, the UAE has demonstrated impressive strides in both social and economic dimensions. The report highlights the UAE's first-place ranking in the Gulf and seventh globally for social cohesion, signifying a robust and united societal framework. Economically, the UAE is charting a clear course through income diversification, aiming for a knowledge-based economy with an emphasis on future-driven sectors.

The nation has embarked on strategic initiatives to secure sustainable growth. Notable among these is the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, set to utilize technology as a cornerstone for development. Additionally, comprehensive plans for food and water security extend until 2036 and 2051. Ambitious smart city projects are underway in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Fujairah, with visions stretching to 2040. The UAE is also sharpening its focus on technology, space, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing sectors.

On a global stage, the UAE's competitiveness has surged, now ranking fifth worldwide for overall competitiveness in 2025. It leads internationally across 223 indicators and stands among the top five in 444 metrics. Moreover, the country is tenth globally in soft power and has retained its first position in entrepreneurship for the past four years, bolstered by strong sovereign wealth funds that not only manage finances but also act as strategic instruments for economic stability.

Transitioning from a smart governmental framework to a society driven by AI, the UAE ranks first globally in telecom infrastructure and second in AI readiness for 2025. Recently, the nation executed its inaugural government transaction using the “Digital Dirham,” a regional first, achieving over 90% digitization of government services. Furthermore, UAE citizens lead globally in digital and technological skills, underscoring the nation's capacity in this arena.

With a commitment of over AED600 billion toward renewable energy through 2050, the UAE is poised for transformation. Its national green hydrogen strategy aims for a production of 15 million tonnes by 2050, ranking sixth globally in talent fostering a green transition. These initiatives solidify the UAE's position as a pioneering nation in energy transformation and ecological stewardship.

Furthermore, establishing itself as a regional and global space contender, the UAE’s Hope Probe successfully arrived at Mars, marking the Arab world's first venture to the Red Planet. Preparations are underway for an asteroid belt exploration mission in 2028 and the Mars 2117 settlement initiative, recognized as one of the globe’s most ambitious long-term endeavors. Such milestones signify the UAE's visionary leadership in science and exploration.
