The UAE Capital Market Authority (CMA) has aligned with global regulators for the International Week of Action, a campaign dedicated to highlighting the dangers of misleading financial content and unauthorized investment advice online.
This initiative reflects an escalating global concern regarding the influence of financial messaging disseminated via digital platforms. Regulatory bodies are dedicated to ensuring that this content is not only accurate but also adheres to established guidelines, thereby protecting investors and preserving market integrity.
In conjunction with this initiative, CMA has awarded certification to finfluencers who completed the Youth Financial Advisors Programme. This program, in collaboration with the Federal Youth Authority, aims to foster ethical financial communication on social media.
Currently, 171 financial influencers are officially registered with the CMA, collectively reaching over 24.6 million followers across diverse platforms. The number of approved influencers has surged by more than 1,800 percent since the framework’s introduction, demonstrating significant engagement.
Waleed Saeed Al Awadhi, CMA's CEO, remarked on the rapid dissemination of financial content and its substantial impact on investment decisions. He emphasized the necessity of sharing information responsibly to protect investors.
Moreover, he highlighted the UAE’s regulatory framework, which offers clear directives for finfluencers, fostering credibility, bolstering public trust, and enhancing the stability of the nation's capital markets.
Rather than focusing solely on regulatory enforcement, CMA promotes responsible financial communication. The authority acknowledges the pivotal role of digital creators in influencing financial awareness and investment choices.
Throughout the International Week of Action, registered influencers are collaborating with CMA to elevate awareness surrounding financial literacy, safe investment practices, and the perils of misleading online financial information.
By blending regulation with collaborative awareness initiatives, CMA aims to fortify the UAE's digital financial landscape, ensuring investor protection and sustaining market integrity.
