UAE Launches Ambitious Agentic AI Initiative to Transform Government Operations

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, led a significant meeting where the UAE Cabinet approved a groundbreaking national framework to integrate Agentic AI into government operations.

Attended by top UAE officials, including His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the meeting focused on key strategies to enhance national governance.

Transforming 50% of Government Services

In alignment with directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid announced a plan to modernize 50% of government services and operations with Agentic AI within the next two years.

This initiative positions the UAE to become the first nation to deploy Agentic AI systems capable of independent execution and decision-making across vital services.

AI as a Collaborative Force

According to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, these advanced AI systems will:

  • Monitor real-time changes

  • Offer strategic recommendations

  • Oversee operational management

  • Carry out actions autonomously

  • Assess outcomes to enhance services

The aim is for AI to act as a strategic partner in enhancing the effectiveness, speed, and quality of government services.

Preparing Employees for the Future

The transition will feature extensive training programs designed to help government staff effectively utilize AI tools.

The performance metrics for officials will be based on:

  • The pace of AI integration

  • Execution of new AI systems

  • Adaptation to upcoming technologies

Implementation Taskforce

A specialized taskforce will oversee the implementation of this project:

  • Oversight: Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan

  • Chair: Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs

Policy Approvals

The Cabinet has also greenlit several crucial policies, including:

  • A unified UAE Code for Government Services & Zero Bureaucracy

  • A government digital records policy for improved data management

  • A government data-sharing policy following the 'collect once, use across entities' principle

  • A digital project alignment guide to enhance efficiency

Key Economic Decisions

Significant decisions included:

  • Re-establishment of the Higher Committee for Free Trade Negotiations

  • Reconstitution of the Emirates Development Bank Board

  • New frameworks to enhance logistics and trade systems

Environmental Initiatives

The Cabinet reviewed several major green initiatives under the National Biofuel Policy 2025, including:

  • Waste-to-fuel projects that generate sustainable aviation fuel

  • Expansion of biodiesel production capabilities

  • A $300 million investment in a new facility in Fujairah

A new global alliance for energy efficiency was also launched to further support climate actions.

International Collaborations

The UAE ratified:

  • 16 international agreements encompassing trade, sustainability, and labor

  • Accession to the International Accreditation Organization

  • A national plan aimed at conservation of ivory and rhinos

The nation will also host global events focusing on mathematics, biodiversity, food security, and the digital economy.

This initiative is a continuation of the UAE's journey in digital transformation, aiming to leap into a new era with intelligent, autonomous government systems emphasizing efficiency and quality public services.
