Turkmenistan Advocates for Fresh UN Resolution on Aral Sea

Serdar Berdimuhamedov has announced a proposal for a novel resolution at the United Nations General Assembly aimed at tackling the environmental issues surrounding the Aral Sea. This initiative was introduced during the meeting of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in Astana.

The plan encourages Central Asian nations to collaborate on crafting a resolution that accounts for the contemporary global economic and geopolitical landscape. The primary objective is to foster cooperation and draw greater attention to the environmental crisis gripping the Aral Sea area.

President Berdimuhamedov highlighted that the new resolution could facilitate increased international investments and support from donors. Such financial backing is deemed crucial for executing extensive environmental and restoration initiatives in the region.

Additionally, he emphasized the initiative's alignment with the interests of all IFAS member nations, aiming to bolster partnership between regional governments and international organizations dedicated to environmental stewardship and sustainable growth.
