The much-awaited romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring popular actors Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, is all set to hit theatres this Christmas. Directed by Sameer Sanjay Vidwans, the film promises a classic enemies-to-lovers romance, featuring veteran actors Neena Gupta and Jackie Shroff in important supporting roles. However, despite the festive release timing, the movie’s advance booking figures have been surprisingly modest, signaling a challenging box office journey ahead.
As per the latest reports, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri has sold just about 51,000 tickets in advance across India, with pre-release collections hovering around ₹2.36 crore. This figure, recorded a few hours before the film’s theatrical release, is quite low, especially for a Christmas release when audiences generally flock to cinemas. While romantic comedies typically open with smaller numbers compared to big-budget action or franchise films, this year’s scenario is even more competitive than usual.
The main hurdle for Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri comes from the ongoing blockbuster Dhurandhar, which continues to enjoy a record-breaking run at the box office. Its massive popularity has resulted in multiplexes and single-screen theatres prioritizing Dhurandhar over new releases. On top of that, the recent release of the visually spectacular Avatar: Fire and Ash has further squeezed the screen availability for this rom-com, limiting the number of shows it can secure.
According to industry insiders, theatre owners have been reluctant to allocate multiple shows for Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, favoring films that guarantee higher footfall and revenues. Multiplexes in major cities have largely booked their prime-time slots for Dhurandhar and Avatar, while single-screen theatres have followed suit. This shortage of screens and showtimes is expected to impact the film’s opening weekend collections significantly.
Despite these challenges, the makers remain hopeful that the film’s engaging storyline, the chemistry between Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, and the festive spirit will attract moviegoers in the coming days. The cast and crew are optimistic that positive word-of-mouth could help Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri find its audience gradually.
However, with two strong contenders dominating the box office, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri faces an uphill battle to make a notable impact during the lucrative Christmas period. Only time will tell if the romantic comedy can carve out its own space amidst the current blockbuster frenzy.
