On Friday, US President Donald Trump delivered a pointed message to Iran, indicating that the nation is encountering significant challenges as protests erupt across various cities.
During his conversation with journalists, Trump noted that demonstrations have spread to regions once deemed secure less than a month ago. This indicates a strong pushback from the Iranian populace against their rulers.
“Iran has serious issues,” Trump stated. “It appears the people are gaining control of certain areas that were considered unthinkable just weeks back.”
When prompted about his advice to Iran's authorities, Trump warned them against using violence against protesters. He indicated that the US would take action should Iranian forces resort to lethal measures.
“You should not resort to violence because we will respond in kind,” he warned.
Furthermore, Trump mentioned that if Iranian leaders commence lethal actions against demonstrators, as he alleged has previously occurred, the US would intervene. However, he assured that this would not involve deploying ground troops.
“This doesn’t imply troops on the ground,” Trump clarified, “but signifies a strong response that targets them where it matters most.”
These statements arise as Iran grapples with significant unrest, with protests challenging the authority of the leadership and drawing global scrutiny.
