Abu Dhabi: The UAE Bulls have made history by clinching their first Abu Dhabi T10 title, propelled by the phenomenal performance of Australian batsman Tim David. In a breathtaking display at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Sunday, David scored an impressive 98 runs, hitting 12 sixes and three fours, and leading his team to an 80-run victory over the Aspin Stallions.
The Bulls started their innings with Phil Salt (18 off 8) and James Vince, but unfortunately, Vince had to exit the game without scoring due to an injury. Salt's quick runs set the stage, but it was David’s blistering innings that truly shone, boasting a strike rate of 326.66. Together with Rovman Powell (24 off 20), they built an imposing 128-run partnership that propelled the Bulls to a formidable total of 150/1 in just ten overs.
In response, the Stallions found themselves in early trouble. Andre Fletcher (2 off 3) was forced to retire injured, and Sherfane Rutherford was dismissed for a duck courtesy of Fazalhaq Farooqi (1/2). Despite a valiant effort from skipper Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who contributed 18 runs off 15 balls, the Stallions struggled to establish a consistent rhythm, ultimately finishing at 70/4. Junaid Siddique (1/18), Iftikhar Ahmed (1/7), and Qais Ahmad (1/14) played key roles in ensuring the Bulls' commanding performance went unchallenged.
David's record-breaking season did not go unnoticed; he concluded the tournament with a remarkable tally of 393 runs across nine innings, averaging 65.50 with an astonishing strike rate of over 263. His contributions earned him both the Batter of the Tournament and Player of the Tournament honors. Other notable awards went to Andrew Tye (Bowler of the Tournament, Vista Riders) and Junaid Siddique (UAE Player of the Tournament) for their exceptional play.
This significant triumph not only marks the UAE Bulls’ first T10 championship but also sets a high standard for power-hitting in the league. Sports fans and experts alike have praised David's performance as one of the standout moments in Abu Dhabi T10 history, underscoring the thrilling evolution of short-format cricket in the region.
