On Monday morning, June 30, a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of 11th Line and Simcoe County Road 27 in Bradford brought traffic to a standstill. South Simcoe Police Services (SSPS) and emergency crews rushed to the scene at around 11 a.m., finding three cars that had collided in the middle of the busy crossroads

What Happened?

  • Three vehicles approached the intersection from different directions when the collision occurred.
  • All drivers stopped, and no one was pinned inside a vehicle—so fire crews did not need to cut anyone out.
  • SSPS says ambulance paramedics checked each person. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported, though minor cuts and bruises were treated on site

Police Investigation

  • South Simcoe Police are now investigating the cause of the crash. They’re looking at factors like speed, traffic-signal timing, and whether any driver was distracted.
  • Investigators asked any witnesses—or drivers’ dash-cams—to share their video footage to help piece together what happened.
  • Traffic was rerouted for about two hours, with lanes blocked off while crews cleared debris and towed away damaged cars.

Why It Matters

  • Fast response by police and paramedics helped prevent the crash scene from becoming more dangerous.
  • Even at low speeds, multi-vehicle collisions can cause traffic jams, stress, and potential for further crashes if not handled quickly.
  • It reminds drivers to stay alert at intersections—watch for changing lights, other vehicles, and pedestrians.

Safety Tips for Drivers

  1. Approach slowly: Always slow down when nearing an intersection, even if you have the green light.
  2. Watch signals: Look for traffic-light changes and turn arrows before you accelerate.
  3. Avoid distractions: Keep phones and other distractions out of sight—your full attention belongs on the road.
  4. Share dash-cam footage: If you witness a collision, safe video can help police understand what happened.

Bradford drivers returned to normal traffic flow by early afternoon after the intersection was reopened. South Simcoe Police remind everyone to drive carefully, especially at high-traffic junctions.
