In a fervent appeal, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has called on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to strongly consider 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi for the Indian national cricket squad. Tharoor praised Suryavanshi’s remarkable performances in domestic cricket, highlighting that the his extraordinary skills warrant immediate recognition at the top level.
This season, Suryavanshi has been nothing short of phenomenal, breaking several records with his explosive performance. He drew nationwide attention after setting the record for the fastest 150 in List A cricket, previously held by AB de Villiers. His incredible knock of 190 runs came off a mere 84 balls, featuring 15 massive sixes and a variety of boundaries, displaying an impressive maturity that is rare for someone his age.
In a public address, Tharoor equated Suryavanshi to one of cricket’s legends, Sachin Tendulkar, who made his international debut at just 16. Tharoor urged India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar to acknowledge Suryavanshi’s tremendous potential, stating, “The last time a fourteen-year-old exhibited such extraordinary cricket talent, it was Sachin Tendulkar – and we all know how that story unfolded.”

Captain Sakibul Gani made a breathtaking contribution of 128 runs off 40 balls, marking the fastest century by an Indian in List A cricket. Ayush Loharuka also made a swift 116 runs off just 56 balls, amplifying Bihar’s record total.
