In a remarkable display of resilience, Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran clinched their eighth title and first in 2026 at the Yonex-Sunrise India Open. On January 18, the duo overcame Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje in a thrilling final that went the distance, finishing 16–21, 25–23, 21–18.

Seeded third and currently ranked No. 4, the Thai pair advanced to the final after a stunning semi-final victory over top-ranked Chinese duo Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping. Their Danish opponents, ranked No. 12, had previously upset the world No. 2 team, Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin, to reach the title match.

The championship match was a fast-paced affair, with the Thais holding a late lead in the first game at 19–16 but ultimately losing it 21–16. The duo showed their mettle by saving four match points in the second set to claim a nail-biting 25–23 victory, thus tying the match.

In the deciding game, the competition remained fierce, but Dechapol and Supissara seized the crucial moments to secure a 21–18 win. This victory marks their first of the year and adds to their impressive total of eight championships on the BWF World Tour, solidifying their status as a top mixed doubles team globally.

With this significant victory, Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran have set the stage for a promising 2026, exemplifying the tenacity and skill expected of true champions.
