Tragic Loss: Telangana Students Killed in California Accident

In a tragic incident late Saturday, two young women from Telangana lost their lives in a road accident in California, as confirmed by local authorities. The victims are 25-year-old Pullakhandam Meghana Rani from Garla mandal and 24-year-old Kadiyala Bhavana from Mulkanoor village, both hailing from the Mahabubabad district of Telangana. Having lived in the US for nearly three years, they were diligently pursuing their Master’s degrees.

Both Meghana and Bhavana were nearing the completion of their studies and actively seeking job opportunities in their fields. Their journey in the US was marked by ambition and hard work, as they strived to realize their dreams through advanced education.

The fatal accident happened while the two women were traveling with friends near the picturesque Alabama Hills. Initial reports indicate that their vehicle lost control on a challenging segment of the road, veering off and plunging into a gorge, leading to tragic injuries for both.

Meghana and Bhavana were known for their dedication and intelligence, and their untimely passing has left their families and the community in utter shock and grief. Their loved ones are currently facing overwhelming sorrow due to the loss of such bright individuals far from home.

In response to this heartbreaking event, the families have urgently appealed to the Telangana government and the Ministry of External Affairs for help. They are seeking immediate assistance in coordinating with the Indian Consulate in San Francisco to facilitate the repatriation of Meghana and Bhavana’s remains to India, allowing their families to conduct final rites with accordance to their customs.

Meanwhile, California authorities are investigating to understand the accident's cause, aiming to identify what led to the vehicle's loss of control to prevent future tragedies.

During this challenging time, the Telugu community in the US has rallied to support the bereaved families, providing both emotional and logistical aid as they navigate the aftermath of the incident abroad.
