Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity has named the Palestinian non-profit Taawon as the third honoree for its seventh edition, to be celebrated on February 4, 2026, at the Founder’s Memorial in Abu Dhabi.

Taawon will be recognized alongside the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia and Zarqa Yaftali, an advocate for Afghan girls’ education.

Recognized for its extensive humanitarian contributions, Taawon impacts over one million lives annually in Palestine. Since its inception in 1983, the organization has invested upwards of US$1 billion in various projects including education, youth empowerment, orphan care, cultural preservation, community development, health, agriculture, and emergency response.

Having executed over 8,200 initiatives, Taawon aims to enhance the economic, social, and cultural prospects of young individuals and communities while also championing the preservation of Palestinian heritage and sustainable development.

Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, remarked that Taawon was chosen for its unwavering humanitarian work and its pivotal role in strengthening Palestinian society amidst adversity. He emphasized its shift from short-term relief strategies to substantial development in education, health, and community cohesion.

Dr. Nabil H. Qaddumi, Chairman of Taawon’s Board of Directors, expressed gratitude for the award, conveying that this recognition will support Taawon in amplifying its programs and addressing humanitarian priorities in Palestine on an international stage.

Previously, the award acknowledged the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia and honored Zarqa Yaftali as the first two recipients, with leaders from both nations commending the recognition as a step towards peace in the Caucasus. Zarqa Yaftali noted that this honor symbolizes hope for Afghan girls and women everywhere.

Since its inauguration in 2019, the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity has celebrated 20 recipients from diverse countries, including Pope Francis and Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb, for their efforts in promoting peace, dialogue, and coexistence among humanity.
