Thai PM Visits Victims of Bangkok Train-Bus Collision

In a heartfelt visit, Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul reached out to the victims of the tragic train-bus crash in Bangkok, vowing that the government would provide complete support and compensation to those impacted.

On May 17, 2026, Prime Minister Anutin, who is also the Interior Minister, visited Camillian Hospital alongside Deputy Transport Minister Siripong Angkasakulkiat. They met with injured passengers receiving care following the devastating collision at the Makkasan railway crossing on Asoke-Din Daeng Road.

During the visit, officials offered fruit baskets to the patients and engaged with both them and their families while checking on their medical statuses. They expressed their sorrow at an incident nobody wished to witness.

Prime Minister Anutin has urged relevant agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation into the accident's cause, stating that the results would assist in implementing enhanced safety measures to avert future railway crossing disasters.

The government has announced that both the State Railway of Thailand and the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority will work together to deliver compensation and medical assistance to victims and the families of the deceased.

Deputy Minister Siripong also indicated that Transport Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn conveyed his condolences to the victims’ families and instructed transport agencies to bolster safety protocols at hazardous railway crossings nationwide.

Siripong has been tasked with visiting injured individuals at Rajavithi Hospital, Phramongkutklao Hospital, and Ramathibodi Hospital to personally oversee their care and extend support on behalf of the government.

The most recent official report at 11:00 AM indicates the accident has led to 8 fatalities and 30 injuries. Victims are being treated in several hospitals throughout Bangkok, with some recovering and being discharged.

Authorities have stated that investigations into the train-bus crash are ongoing, and updates will be provided as further information emerges.
