In an impressive start to his French Open journey, world number one Jannik Sinner showcased remarkable form with a straight-sets win against the French player Clement Tabur on Tuesday.

Sinner, representing Italy, secured the match with scores of 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round at Roland Garros, ensuring a seamless transition into the next round. Competing in the evening session on Court Philippe-Chatrier, Sinner's performance was a mix of aggressive baseline play and sustained pressure on his opponent.

Right from the onset, Sinner exhibited his intent to dominate, breaking Tabur’s serve early to establish a 2-0 lead in the opening set, adding another break to extend his advantage to 4-1. The 24-year-old concluded the first set with a resounding forehand winner.

The second set mirrored the first as Sinner maintained his pace and precision. Tabur found it challenging to cope with Sinner’s unyielding attacking style, leading to an eventual two-set lead for the Italian.

While the third set saw a more confident Tabur earn the support of the local audience with impressive shots, the world number 171 could only briefly challenge Sinner, who showcased his skills with powerful groundstrokes and precise shot placement.

Ultimately, Sinner wrapped up the match in straight sets, underlining his outstanding form this season with a remarkable 29-match winning streak, during which he has lost only three sets. Earlier this month, he also achieved the milestone of collecting all Masters 1000 titles.

Post-match, Sinner expressed gratitude towards the fans for their unwavering support, despite facing a local competitor.

“It’s wonderful to return here, where I have wonderful memories. First-round encounters can be tricky,” he remarked. “Thank you for coming, for your support, and for being gracious to me even when I was up against a Frenchman.”
