Two 19-year-old men have been charged after a taxi driver was shot dead in North Battleford
His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and member of the Supreme Council, warmly received a visiting delegation from Birzeit University (BZU) this past Saturday at the Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre. The delegation was headed by Dr Hanan Ashrawi, the Chairperson of the university's Board of Trustees.
During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Sultan expressed his appreciation for the delegation's work in overseeing the university and improving both its academic and administrative frameworks. He noted how these initiatives empower BZU to sustain its educational goals and uphold its significant position in serving Palestinian society. Furthermore, he asserted the necessity of diligent efforts to elevate higher education and fortify the university's status among institutions in Palestine.
He reiterated his pledge to back educational institutions in need, emphasizing that the harsh realities confronting Palestinian students necessitate robust actions to enable their pursuit of studies in a secure and nurturing atmosphere.
During their discussion, Sheikh Sultan received an extensive update on BZU’s academic offerings, which comprise over 170 programs at undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and professional diploma levels, spanning disciplines like science, engineering, arts, business, law, and health.
Birzeit University is home to more than 13,000 students and is acknowledged for its influential role in scientific inquiry, community engagement, and maintaining a strong academic reputation both on a local and international scale. The university holds a distinguished position among Palestinian institutions and continually plays a pivotal role in advancing higher education and societal development.
