His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, has sanctioned the hiring of 1,000 Emirati men and women within the Government of Sharjah, slated for January 2026. This action reflects the emirate's unwavering dedication to enhancing national employment.
This initiative comes on the heels of successfully employing 3,145 Emirati citizens throughout 2025, showcasing Sharjah’s proactive approach to increasing job opportunities for its nationals. As part of this announcement, interviews for the upcoming January positions will commence next Monday, facilitating an efficient selection process for eligible candidates.
The employment initiative is among a series of efforts directly overseen by the Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at bolstering employment for citizens, empowering local talent, and fostering long-term welfare for Emirati households. These measures encompass the regular establishment of new government roles to align with workforce demands.
In 2025, the newly appointed employees were assigned to various central and decentralized government agencies within Sharjah. The total staffing included 1,994 men and 1,151 women, with total employment expenditure surpassing AED 950 million.
His Highness has repeatedly emphasized the necessity for sustainable job opportunities that enable young Emiratis to actively partake in the emirate's progress, cultivate secure family lives, and maintain a respectable standard of living.
