His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, led a council meeting on Tuesday at the Sharjah Ruler’s Office.
The meeting included His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the SEC, alongside His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, also Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the SEC.
Assessment of Government Effectiveness and Environmental Initiatives
During the session, the Council assessed the efficiency of government departments and authorities. It also considered initiatives aimed at bolstering environmental sustainability, enhancing service quality, and elevating performance standards to serve community needs better.
Enhancement of Waste Management Systems
The Council discussed strategies for advancing Sharjah’s waste management framework throughout its various cities and regions. These initiatives align with the UAE’s aspiration for carbon neutrality by 2050.
These development plans are designed to create a comprehensive and sustainable waste management system that safeguards the environment, conserves resources, improves quality of life, and fosters sustainable growth.
Municipalities will implement state-of-the-art technologies and international best practices in waste collection, treatment, and recycling. This approach is expected to increase operational efficiency, minimize environmental impact, and reduce reliance on traditional landfills while accommodating future population growth.
Updates on the ‘Aqari’ Real Estate Initiative
The Council also examined recent advancements in the “Aqari” platform, Sharjah’s all-encompassing digital system for the real estate sector. This platform is aimed at enhancing transparency, governance, and effectiveness in real estate transactions.
The initial phase of the platform has been completed, including company and agency registrations, property listings, and rental services through a consolidated digital interface.
Reports indicate that the platform has facilitated over 112,000 transactions, listed 95,000 properties, and registered nearly 5,000 companies and agencies. Notably, the time taken for transaction processing has decreased by 90%, with all services now available digitally, allowing users to handle requests without needing to visit service centers.
The Council commended the Aqari platform team for their efforts and reaffirmed ongoing backing to further enhance digital services to meet user expectations following exemplary government practices.
