In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community, a female teacher from Malaysia is facing numerous sexual assault charges against a 14-year-old male student. Nurul Asyikin Sutan Shahril appeared at the Seremban Sessions Court on May 20, 2026, where she entered a plea of not guilty to all allegations.
The 42-year-old educator is facing five criminal charges, which include both physical and non-physical assault claims related to the teenager. Allegations suggest that several incidents occurred between September 12 and September 20, 2025, in locations nearby an apartment building in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
Investigators have asserted that the teacher engaged in physical sexual assaults outside the apartment complex, and similar incidents reportedly happened in another residence in April of the current year. She is also accused of transmitting explicit images to the student via WhatsApp and urging him to reciprocate with indecent images of himself during the same timeframe.
The prosecution brought forth charges under Malaysia’s Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which stipulates severe penalties upon conviction, including prolonged imprisonment and other legal consequences. Additional charges stem from Section 377B of the Penal Code concerning physical sexual assault.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni sought elevated bail due to the gravity of the charges, while the defense attorney requested a more lenient figure, citing the accused’s financial hardships and willingness to cooperate with law enforcement during the proceedings.
Judge Siti Aishah Ab Rashid subsequently set the bail at RM25,000 for all charges combined, imposing strict conditions. These included a requirement for the teacher to report to a local police station monthly, surrender her passport, and maintain no contact with the alleged victim or prosecution witnesses until the conclusion of the case.
