Bomb Threats Lead to Evacuations at Schools in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, India — January 28, 2026:

A series of bomb threat emails targeted at least nine private schools in northern India early Wednesday, necessitating prompt evacuations of students and staff.

These threats were reported around 8:00 a.m. local time, affecting several educational institutions in Chandigarh and Gurugram. Law enforcement and bomb detection squads quickly responded to the situation, initiating comprehensive security checks.

Among the schools in Chandigarh that received threats are Saint Kabir Public School, Ryan International School, Vivek High School, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Chitkara International School, and Bhavan Vidyalaya. In addition, four schools in Gurugram experienced similar threats.

Authorities instructed students and faculty to leave the grounds as a precaution. Police confirmed that investigations to identify the source of the emails are currently ongoing, with heightened security measures implemented.

While no explosives or suspicious items have been identified as of yet, officials are approaching the situation with utmost seriousness given the safety of children and staff.
