An overnight drone attack by Russia on the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa has left at least 10 people injured, including two children, and caused widespread damage to residential areas and infrastructure. Local authorities confirmed that the strikes targeted multiple parts of the city, intensifying concerns over civilian safety.
The heaviest damage was reported in the Prymorskyi district, a central area where several high-rise residential buildings, a hotel, and key facilities were affected. Officials said most of the injured were located in this district, with emergency services responding quickly to assist residents and assess the destruction.
According to regional authorities, additional districts in Odesa were also impacted, with private homes, vehicles, and other structures sustaining damage. The attack created a difficult situation for residents, as emergency teams worked through the night to manage the aftermath and provide support to those affected.
The assault is part of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has continued for more than four years since the full-scale invasion began in 2022. Odesa, a major Black Sea port and a key hub for exports, has frequently been targeted due to its strategic importance.
Officials described the night as extremely challenging, highlighting the continued risks faced by civilians living in conflict zones. Authorities are continuing rescue and recovery operations while monitoring the situation for any further threats.
The latest attack underscores the ongoing intensity of the conflict and its impact on urban centres, as efforts to stabilise the region remain uncertain.
