Mattel is set to relaunch the cherished Masters of the Universe action figures, unveiling a new toy collection linked to its upcoming live-action film. This thrilling initiative comes on the heels of the blockbuster Barbie, which accumulated over $1.4 billion globally and received an Academy Award.
The toy giant aims to revitalise its renowned brands, with over a dozen films already in the pipeline. Sparked by the enthusiasm following the Masters of the Universe movie teaser—drawing more than 30 million views online—Mattel sees this as the ideal moment to reintroduce this nostalgic franchise.
A massive phenomenon in the 1980s, the Masters of the Universe toy line remains close to fans’ hearts. According to Mattel’s chief global brand officer, the relaunch has been carefully timed to honor the brand’s legacy authentically.
Directed by Oscar-nominee Travis Knight, the upcoming film features Nicholas Galitzine as the iconic He-Man. The star-studded cast includes Jared Leto as the villain Skeletor, alongside Idris Elba, Alison Brie, and Camila Mendes.
The new action figures, showcasing beloved characters like He-Man, Skeletor, and Evil-Lyn, will be available globally starting in April, around $25 each. These toys will arrive in stores roughly two months before the film's theatrical premiere, allowing fans to revisit the thrills and magic of this classic universe.
