The State of Qatar recently participated in the 12th session of the Multi-Year Expert Meeting on Investment, Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Productive Capacity-Building and Sustainable Development, held from May 4–5 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
Representing Qatar was HE Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva.
In her keynote speech, she outlined the forthcoming UNCTAD World Investment Forum 2026 and reaffirmed Qatar's dedication to collaborating closely with UNCTAD to host the global gathering in Doha from October 25 to 27 under the theme “Investing in the Future.”
Dr. Al Muftah emphasized that Qatar is actively working to ensure a remarkably organized forum despite ongoing regional challenges. The forum will zero in on pivotal areas such as global value chains, the digital economy, green transformation, alongside crucial themes of peace and reconstruction.
She also underscored the implications of recent regional tensions on vital infrastructure and gas production. These dynamics reveal vulnerabilities in global supply chains, which can adversely affect the economic stability of developing nations.
Dr. Al Muftah highlighted the necessity of safeguarding global economic infrastructure and ensuring secure trade routes to support sustained development and economic security on an international scale.
She reiterated that Qatar is fortifying its status as a regional hub by integrating its leadership in energy security with expanding investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure, fostering innovation while reinforcing Qatar's position in stabilizing global markets.
In conclusion, she expressed Qatar's eagerness to welcome global delegates to Doha for the World Investment Forum in October.
