PureHealth Unveils AI-Driven Medical University Campus in Athens

PureHealth has formally announced the opening of its University of Nicosia (UNIC) Athens campus through its Greek subsidiary. This initiative introduces an innovative approach to healthcare education, intertwining artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and digital health technologies with medical training.

This new institution aims to equip future healthcare professionals with the skills required for technology-driven healthcare systems, seamlessly blending advanced digital tools with clinical education. Students will train in a setting that connects healthcare with research, technology, and practical clinical experience.

The inauguration gathered high-ranking officials and leaders from Greece, Cyprus, and the UAE, underscoring the project's strategic relevance. Notable attendees included Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, UAE Ambassador to Greece Dr. Ali Obaid Ali Al Dhaheri, PureHealth Group CEO Shaista Asif, and representatives from the University of Nicosia.

This university aligns with PureHealth's global goal of integrating healthcare delivery, research, and education into a unified system. The firm aims to bridge medical expertise, clinical standards, and operational know-how between the UAE, Greece, and Cyprus.

Ambassador Dr. Ali Obaid Ali Al Dhaheri noted that this initiative exemplifies the strengthened bond between the UAE and Greece, showcasing a mutual commitment to innovation in both healthcare and education. He highlighted the project's role in fostering talent development and sustainable growth.

Shaista Asif, CEO of PureHealth Group, stated that the healthcare sector is rapidly changing, with technology, data, and clinical care becoming more interconnected. She emphasized that the university will cultivate future-ready professionals and enhance collaboration between healthcare services and education.

Sofia Zacharaki, Greece's Minister of Education, characterized the launch as a pivotal moment for the country's higher education. She pointed out that the project aims to elevate the quality and competitiveness of Greece's education system while positioning the nation as a leader in academic innovation.

Panagiotis Skandalakis, President of the Council of UNIC Athens, expressed ambition to revolutionize medical education by integrating AI as a core component of the curriculum. He added that students will be trained for environments where technology, clinical practice, and data coexist harmoniously.

The launch also bolsters the burgeoning partnership between the UAE and Greece, building on their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2020. This endeavor complements essential UAE development initiatives like We the UAE 2031 and Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, which emphasize advanced healthcare systems and workforce development.

This new university is designed to address two significant challenges in Europe’s healthcare sector: the shortage of healthcare professionals and the swift integration of AI technologies. Europe faces a potential deficit of up to one million healthcare workers by 2030, making workforce development a paramount concern.

Students at UNIC Athens will acquire practical skills through PureHealth’s healthcare network, which caters to over 1.3 million patients each year in Greece. Additionally, the institution will create talent exchange programs with leading organizations in the UAE, providing students with valuable international experiences.

Through this initiative, PureHealth aspires to cultivate a new generation of healthcare professionals equipped with the competencies needed for the future of modern healthcare systems.
