Pakistan Airstrike on Kabul Hospital: 400 Killed, 250 Injured, Taliban Claims

At least 400 people were killed and around 250 others were injured after a reported Pakistan airstrike on Kabul hospital, according to officials from the Taliban. The incident took place in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, late at night, causing massive destruction and panic in the area.

Afghan officials said the airstrike hit a large drug rehabilitation hospital with about 2,000 beds. The building suffered heavy damage, and many patients who were receiving treatment were among the victims. Government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid strongly condemned the attack and said that targeting hospitals and civilians is a serious crime against humanity.

Another spokesperson, Hamdullah Fitrat, said the strike happened around 9 pm local time and destroyed a major part of the hospital. He added that the victims included vulnerable people who were already in need of medical care.

However, Pakistan denied these claims. Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that the military carried out “precision airstrikes” but only targeted military sites, not hospitals. He stated that the strikes were aimed at facilities used for supporting terror activities.

The situation between Pakistan and Afghanistan has become tense in recent weeks. Both sides have accused each other of cross-border attacks. Earlier clashes near the border killed several people and broke a ceasefire that was agreed last year.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has even described the situation as an “open war” between the two countries. The latest Pakistan airstrike on Kabul hospital has added to fears of a bigger conflict, as both nations continue to exchange strong statements and accusations.
