Pakistan Mobilizes Military Forces for Saudi Arabia

In a significant move, Pakistan has dispatched a large contingent of military forces, including thousands of troops, fighter jets, and sophisticated air defence systems to Saudi Arabia, all under a confidential defense agreement between the two nations. This deployment comes amidst rising tensions in the region tied to the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Sources from security and government circles disclose that approximately 8,000 military personnel, along with nearly 16 aircraft—primarily JF-17 fighter jets developed in partnership with China—have been sent. Additionally, two squadrons of drones and a Chinese-manufactured HQ-9 air defence system have been included in this military package.

Pakistani troops will operate the military equipment, while the mission is being financed by Saudi Arabia. Insiders have characterized this deployment as a combat-ready force, intended to provide support to the Kingdom against potential aggressions.

The current troop presence emphasizes an advisory and training capacity during the ongoing conflict, even though Pakistan has had military advisors in Saudi Arabia as per previous agreements. This latest troop increase significantly amplifies Pakistan’s military footprint in a time of growing regional tension.

The undisclosed defense pact reportedly permits the deployment of up to 80,000 Pakistani troops if circumstances demand it. Furthermore, some officials suggest that the agreement might encompass the possibility of deploying Pakistani naval forces, although this has yet to be confirmed.

This development unfolds as Pakistan positions itself as a significant mediator in the Iranian conflict, having facilitated discussions between the U.S. and Iran, and played a pivotal role in achieving a temporary ceasefire in the area.

This military deployment has attracted global scrutiny due to its scale and the dual roles being played by Pakistan as both a mediator and military ally for Saudi Arabia. At the time of this report, both nations had not issued official statements regarding these developments.
