Debate Ignites Over Pakistani Claims on Airbases

Post by : Shakul

A new uproar has emerged in cyberspace following a claim made by a Pakistani military officer regarding missile strikes on two supposed Indian airbases. This assertion has attracted widespread skepticism, as it turns out both locations lack operational air force facilities. The statement quickly became fodder for mockery on various social media platforms.

This uproar is tied to the increased hostilities following the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. In response, Pakistan initiated what they termed “Operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos,” leading to a surge in military activities, including drone strikes, across regions like Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

In a virally shared clip, Captain Muneeb Zamal asserted that their military successfully hit targets dubbed “Rajouri Airbase” and “Mamun Airbase.” However, scrutiny from defense experts and internet users revealed that Rajouri is merely a district in Jammu, lacking an Air Force base, while Mamun is recognized as a military cantonment.

Additionally, the officer's assertion that the presence of civilians during missile launches bolstered troop morale led to a flurry of online jokes and critiques, with many users doubting the validity of the claims and the misidentification of targets.

During the military escalation on May 10, 2025, reports indicated that Pakistan employed Fatah-1 guided artillery rockets. Indian air defenses claimed interception of one such rocket over Sirsa, Haryana, before it could inflict any damage. Debris related to missile strikes was later found across multiple states, including Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Kashmir.

The viral video has reignited discussions on information warfare and propaganda, which often heightens during military confrontations between India and Pakistan. Experts warn that such statements can exacerbate misinformation and misunderstanding in sensitive geopolitical climates.

Despite the overwhelming ridicule online, no official clarification has emerged from Pakistan regarding the so-called targets. The saga continues to gain traction on social media, with users flooding platforms with memes, satellite imagery, and witty commentary questioning the credibility of the officer's statements.
