The 2025 Oman Summit on Diabetes and Endocrine Health commenced today in the Muscat Governorate, inaugurated by HH Sayyida Dr. Mona Fahad Al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor for External Cooperation at Sultan Qaboos University. This summit assembles specialists in diabetology, obesity, and hormone-related conditions, featuring 22 international experts who will deliver insightful scientific presentations throughout the two-day event.
Sayyida Dr. Noor Badr Al Busaidi, Chairperson of the Oman Diabetes Association, stated the summit acts as a crucial scientific venue that enhances care for individuals affected by diabetes, obesity, and endocrine disorders in Oman. She elaborated that the conference stems from robust collaborations between the Oman Diabetes Association, the Ministry of Health, and the National Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology, demonstrating effective teamwork between civil society and governmental health bodies.
Additionally, she mentioned the event's goal to strengthen national skills, foster inter-sectoral cooperation, and elevate medical care standards by gathering doctors, researchers, policymakers, and health officials in one venue. The summit will address numerous significant topics, including advancements in diabetes technologies, hormone disorders across different age groups, obesity medicine, metabolic bone health, thyroid ailments, and conditions affecting the pituitary and adrenal glands. It will also present the latest updates in precision medicine.
The agenda features four practical workshops aimed at developing vital skills such as diabetic foot care, continuous glucose monitoring, carbohydrate counting, and insulin pump therapy. These workshops aim to elevate participants’ practical competencies in line with global standards. The summit is organized into two parallel scientific tracks—adult medicine and pediatrics—to examine contemporary clinical practices and research linked to diabetes and metabolic health for all ages.
