Dubai, UAE – Emirates Airline, in collaboration with Safran Seats, a renowned name in aircraft seating solutions, has entered into a noteworthy Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a cutting-edge manufacturing and assembly facility for aircraft seats in Dubai. This initiative marks a significant milestone in enhancing Dubai's status as a key player in the aerospace manufacturing sector.

Initially, the facility will specialize in producing Business and Economy Class seats aimed at cabin retrofit projects, with future expansions planned for line-fit production. This plant will cater to both Emirates and Safran's international clientele, providing a competitive edge by positioning advanced seating technology closer to Emirates' operations.

The project is designed to satisfy the increasing global demand for aircraft seating while embracing modern manufacturing technologies to boost efficiency. Spanning an area of 20,000–25,000 square meters, the facility is set to scale production progressively, starting with an annual assembly of up to 1,000 Business Class seats.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, articulated:
“This partnership with Safran signifies a landmark achievement in reinforcing Dubai as a leading hub for aerospace manufacturing. Establishing top-tier seat production and supply chain capabilities locally will generate skilled jobs and enhance our retrofit initiatives while serving global markets. This project aligns with the D33 economic agenda, strengthens our strategic sector, and diversifies Dubai's economic landscape. Our aviation industry ranks among the best globally, and it is time we bolster our manufacturing abilities to reflect that success.”

Olivier Andriès, CEO of Safran, remarked:
“We cherish our longstanding partnership with Emirates and appreciate their confidence in this ambitious endeavor. This collaboration underscores our mutual commitment to innovation and excellence, allowing us to respond effectively to the rising demands of the global aviation landscape. Together, we are pioneering the future of aircraft seating through innovation and resilience.”

Safran has played a vital role in Emirates’ fleet modernization efforts, offering premium seating solutions for retrofits and the airline’s A350 fleet. This Dubai facility represents the initial phase in creating a comprehensive aerospace manufacturing hub, attracting suppliers, technology innovators, and top-tier talent to the area.

The Emirates-Safran collaboration is set to transform aviation manufacturing in Dubai, promoting operational excellence, generating skilled jobs, and driving interior innovation for aircraft for years ahead.
