Manchester City has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art training facility for its Women’s First Team, showcasing a substantial investment of £10 million at the City Football Academy. This marks a pivotal milestone in the support for women’s football.
Spanning 17,000 square feet, the facility aims to provide unparalleled training, recovery, and performance resources for the players. This venture represents one of the largest commitments to dedicated women’s football facilities in the UK.
The state-of-the-art complex features a modern gym equipped with specialized strength and conditioning tools, alongside medical and rehabilitation zones, physio rooms, hydrotherapy, and recovery areas. Advanced technologies have also been integrated to enhance player performance, mitigate injuries, and facilitate recovery.
Central to the facility is Manchester City’s unique circular dressing room, designed to bolster team spirit and promote player development.
This new building serves as a permanent base for the squad, ensuring they remain integrated with Manchester City’s broader football operations at the City Football Academy. The campus is also home to the Joie Stadium, a 7,000-capacity venue recognized as the first dedicated stadium in the Women’s Super League.
The facility includes social areas and personalized features, showcasing images of players with their families and the names of those who have achieved over 100 appearances, alongside the club's nine major trophies since 2014.
Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Chairman of Manchester City Women, stated that this initiative represents the club’s enduring commitment to advancing women's football.
He emphasized the club's priority in establishing an optimal environment for both players and staff to flourish since relaunching the professional Manchester City Women team in 2014.
Charlotte O’Neill, Managing Director, noted that the facility's design focuses on maximizing player performance and sustaining competitive momentum for trophies.
Recently, Manchester City Women clinched the Women’s Super League title and are set to celebrate this Saturday after remaining unbeaten at both the Joie and Etihad Stadiums throughout the season.
With nine major accolades since 2014, the club is also preparing for the FA Cup Final on May 31.
