Mali Defence Minister Killed Amid Flurry Of Insurgent Attacks

Mali’s Defence Minister Sadio Camara has been killed following a deadly car bomb attack on his residence, marking a major escalation in ongoing violence across Mali. The government confirmed that the attack took place in the town of Kati, located close to the capital Bamako, where key military installations are based.

According to official statements, a vehicle packed with explosives was driven into the minister’s residence by a suicide attacker. The blast was followed by a gunfight between security forces and armed militants. Camara was seriously injured in the attack and later died in hospital. The situation in the northern city of Kidal remains unclear, with conflicting reports about control of the area.
