The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has successfully wrapped up significant maintenance and rehabilitation projects on the Dubai Metro's tunnel network. This initiative is part of the RTA's continuous commitment to bolster safe operations, reliability, and sustainability within the public transport system.
Executed under the RTA’s long-term framework, this project is vital in ensuring that their public transport remains world-class while functioning with utmost efficiency and safety. The RTA asserted that these maintenance efforts line up with its vision for sustainable operational excellence through modern engineering solutions and advanced technologies.
Included in the maintenance tasks were thorough inspections, specialized cleaning, addressing technical flaws, asset upgrades, and ongoing improvement strategies aimed at prolonging the metro’s operational lifespan.
During the past year, RTA carried out 51 specialized inspections of the tunnel using well-structured operational processes. These efforts facilitated the completion of 873 corrective maintenance actions, all maintained to high-efficiency standards.
Moreover, the RTA met all its goals for preventive and corrective maintenance, signaling a firm dedication to passenger safety and the sustainability of its infrastructure.
As part of the rehabilitation efforts, routine cleaning was performed using advanced manual techniques and high-pressure washing methods, effectively eliminating dust and debris that could hinder safety and operational efficiency.
RTA has affirmed that these maintenance and inspection operations followed international rail standards and best practices. Furthermore, the authority invests in the ongoing training of specialized teams to adapt to the latest advancements and safety protocols globally.
The achievements in these upgrades are anticipated to significantly elevate the reliability and longevity of Dubai Metro's tunnel infrastructure, fostering the expansion of the city's public transportation network.
