The event, organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre and will continue until 20 November.
The summit was inaugurated by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who reflected on the summit's decade-long evolution into a global platform where experts, researchers, academics, and policymakers converge. She emphasized the importance of the summit as a catalyst for dynamic discussions, innovative ideas, and reinforcing Dubai's status as a leading hub for knowledge and innovation exchange.
This year's summit, themed “Knowledge Markets: Developing Sustainable Communities,” delves into transforming ideas, information, and innovation into development opportunities. Discussions aimed to explore how knowledge can drive diverse economies, enhance technology adoption, and empower communities amid a swiftly changing global landscape.
The opening ceremony also revealed the Global Knowledge Index 2025, where Switzerland claims the top spot, followed closely by Singapore and Sweden. The UAE maintains its lead in the Arab region, surpassing Saudi Arabia and Qatar. This year’s Index has incorporated updated methodologies and sub-indicators to better assess countries' potential for fostering knowledge-driven economies.
Day one featured a packed schedule of panel discussions, expert sessions, and interactive workshops, tackling essential issues such as the evolution of knowledge markets, sustainability, education, research, innovation, and the increasing significance of partnerships in establishing robust knowledge ecosystems. Global participants engaged in conversations about how effective knowledge transfer and collaborative efforts can help societies adapt to rapid global changes while paving avenues for sustainable development.
The 10th edition of the Summit not only commemorates past accomplishments but also rekindles the commitment to nurturing future-ready communities and bolstering the global movement towards knowledge-driven progress.
