Post by : Shakul

Cambodia's King, Norodom Sihamoni, has revealed his prostate cancer diagnosis, currently receiving treatment in China. This information was disclosed in an official statement dated April 10, 2026.

At 72 years old, the king learned of his condition during a routine medical check in Beijing, where he accompanied his mother, Norodom Monineath, for checkups.

While the specifics of his health status were not elaborated upon, experts emphasize that prostate cancer can be effectively treated, especially if detected early.

This announcement has sparked interest regarding the king's health, although his duties remain primarily ceremonial within Cambodia's constitutional monarchy.

King Sihamoni ascended the throne in October 2004, following the abdication of his father, Norodom Sihanouk, who also received treatment for prostate cancer in China and lived until age 89.

Prior to becoming king, Sihamoni represented Cambodia as an ambassador to UNESCO and is well-known for his achievements as a classical ballet dancer.

The royal family has not announced any immediate modifications to the king’s official responsibilities, as he is known for his private lifestyle and remains unmarried, without direct heirs.
