Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has taken a bold stance against the horrific lynching of 27-year-old Hindu man Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The incident, which involved a mob violently attacking Dipu, ultimately leading to his death through beating and immolation, has evoked widespread outrage. After witnessing the disturbing footage, Janhvi referred to the event as a “slaughter” and strongly criticized the rising extremism that precipitates such violence.

On her Instagram Stories, she shared a moving message titled “Dipu Chandra Das,” urging her followers to inform themselves about the tragedy, view the viral videos, and vocalize their opposition to such brutalities. She remarked, “What is occurring in Bangladesh is barbaric. This is slaughter, not isolated. If you are unaware of this inhumane public lynching, educate yourself, watch the videos, and question the silence. If you feel no anger despite this, such hypocrisy will lead to our demise.”

Janhvi expressed her frustration over the selective outrage frequently exhibited by society. She stated, “We continue to lament over issues abroad while our own people are getting killed in such heinous ways. Extremism, in any form, must be condemned before we forget our humanity.”

Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu garment worker from a factory in the Square Masterbari area, was accused of blasphemy, leading to the mob attack that tragically claimed his life. Reports indicate that the mob beat him savagely and then set his body ablaze; his charred remains were later found tied to a tree.

The family learned of the incident via social media and were heartbroken by their loss. Authorities have apprehended at least 12 suspects involved, and investigations are currently in progress.

This incident has ignited a fierce backlash on social media, where many praised Janhvi for her willingness to confront the violence head-on. Comments applauded her bravery in condemning Islamic extremism, particularly amidst a backdrop of silence from many in Bollywood, reportedly due to concerns over backlash.

One user noted, “Janhvi is addressing the brutal lynching and the cruelty faced by Hindus in Bangladesh while the rest of Bollywood stays silent, fearing the loss of market support. Kudos to her for courageously calling out extremism that lurks close to home.”

Others recognized Janhvi’s keen sense of social responsibility, with comments like, “While I might not favor her acting, she remains alert to the events around her and has the bravery to voice them.”

As the nation grapples with this brutal act, there's hope that Janhvi's example will inspire other public figures to normalize speaking out against extremism and violence in all its forms.

This horrific lynching has brought to the forefront the pressing issues of religious intolerance and mob violence in South Asia. Incidents like these spark urgent debates about the safety of minority communities and the necessity for law enforcement to uphold order. Human rights activists are advocating for immediate steps to forcefully address such acts and ensure justice for victims.

With the investigation underway, the country remains vigilant, hoping for justice for Dipu Chandra Das and a stronger commitment to fighting extremism.
