Jaideep Ahlawat Takes Over in Drishyam 3 as Akshaye Khanna Bows Out

In a surprising turn, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak has announced that Jaideep Ahlawat will take over the role previously held by Akshaye Khanna in the much-anticipated Drishyam 3. This decision follows Khanna's sudden withdrawal from the film just ten days ahead of the filming schedule.

Kumar Mangat Pathak explained that after extensive negotiations and a formal contract, Akshaye initially agreed to forgo wearing a wig to maintain continuity with earlier films. However, influenced by advice from acquaintances, he later insisted on wearing one. Director Abhishek Pathak attempted to persuade him to stick to his original decision, highlighting the potential issues for continuity, but Akshaye ultimately opted to exit the project entirely.

Pathak noted that Akshaye Khanna had recently found his footing in the industry following a dry spell, thanks to films like Section 375 (2019) and Drishyam 2 (2022), but his newfound success seemed to have impacted his professionalism, leading to reports of difficult behavior on set.

With Khanna's departure, Jaideep Ahlawat has officially joined the cast of Drishyam 3. The producer commended Jaideep not only for his talent but also for his professionalism. Pathak also mentioned that he had previously produced one of Jaideep's early works, Aakrosh (2010).

The producer expressed concerns over the financial repercussions of Khanna’s last-minute exit and has issued a legal notice to him, with further legal actions anticipated.

Pathak voiced his disbelief regarding the wig stipulation, noting it would not fit the continuity requirements of the franchise's sequel.

With Jaideep Ahlawat now part of the team, the makers are optimistic that Drishyam 3 will continue to build on the franchise’s success.
