A new solo art exhibition by Northern Ontario artist Jack Lockhart is opening at the Alex Dufresne Gallery, offering visitors a detailed look at his long and evolving artistic career. The exhibition, titled “Beyond Imagination: A Journey Through 60 Years of Creative Expertise,” presents a mix of both recent and past works.
The exhibition highlights Lockhart’s versatility as an artist, featuring pieces created using watercolour, acrylic, and oil. His work reflects decades of experimentation and growth, showing how his artistic style has changed over time while continuing to explore new ideas and techniques. The collection aims to give visitors a complete view of his creative journey.
Gallery curator Natasha Wiatr explained that the exhibition not only focuses on the artist’s development but also on his willingness to push creative boundaries. According to her, Lockhart’s work stands out because of his continuous effort to explore different forms, styles, and artistic expressions. His artworks have also been recognized beyond Canada and are part of private and corporate collections around the world.
Lockhart himself shared that his passion for art has always been driven by curiosity and a strong desire to create. He described the exhibition as a celebration of the variety and innovation he has explored throughout his career. He hopes that visitors will feel the same joy he experiences while painting and leave the gallery inspired with new ideas.
The exhibition officially opens on April 4, with a special reception where visitors can meet the artist in person. The event is open to the public and free to attend, making it accessible to a wide audience. The gallery is located within the Callander Museum building, making it a cultural destination for both art lovers and visitors interested in local history.
The exhibition will continue until May 2, giving people several weeks to experience the collection. This showcase not only celebrates the work of a dedicated artist but also highlights the importance of local galleries in promoting art and culture within the community.
