Abu Dhabi Unveils Innovative Government Excellence Award Model

Post by : Bianca Hayes

Under the auspices of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council, a new model for the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance (ADAEP) has been officially announced.

This revised model aims to promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous enhancement within government sectors. It seeks to foster collaboration and integration within a cohesive and responsive government framework, ultimately driving sustainable growth and an improved quality of life for its citizens.

The refreshed ADAEP structure introduces a thorough, multi-stage assessment process that carefully evaluates the initiatives, projects, and programs of participating entities. This systematic approach guarantees transparency and reinforces the award's significance as a pivotal platform for elevating institutional performance within the public sector.

Drawing from extensive experience and advanced research, this model enables governmental bodies to raise their operational benchmarks. It encourages modern technology integration and nurtures a cooperative environment aimed at achieving lasting positive impacts in communities.

Aligned with Abu Dhabi's vision for digital advancement, this ADAEP cycle incorporates artificial intelligence across all levels of evaluation. Innovative tools such as the AI Consultant, AI Juror, and AI Grand Jury Assistant are utilized to provide accurate data analysis and objective insights for informed decision-making.

Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Office of the Crown Prince, stated that excellence is fundamental to Abu Dhabi's governance strategy. He noted that this award framework fosters accountability, motivates ongoing improvement, and enhances collaboration among government entities to deliver real value to the community.

Currently, 37 governmental bodies and 103 initiatives are being assessed by over 90 experts from local and international domains. The final evaluation process is overseen by a distinguished grand jury, incorporating leaders from both public and private sectors.

The awards feature two primary tracks, split into six categories: three excellence awards for the highest-performing entities and three initiative-based awards focused on strategic influence, digital and AI innovation, as well as community and family contributions.

The selection process employs a multi-tiered evaluation model, commencing with independent expert reviews supported by AI to ensure accuracy and uniformity. The outcomes are further examined by quality assurance teams and evaluation panels before being finalized by the grand jury, ensuring a thorough and impartial assessment.

The formal ADAEP awards ceremony is slated for April 2026, where distinguished entities and initiatives will be recognized for their invaluable contributions to the advancement of Abu Dhabi’s governance and public service excellence.
