An Indian student dies in Canada after alleged assault, raising serious concerns about safety abroad. The victim, Gurkirat Singh Manocha, was from Ujjain and had been living in Canada for the past 15 months to study and work.

The incident took place near Fort St John, where Gurkirat was reportedly attacked late at night while returning from work. According to his family, he was assaulted by a group of 10 to 12 people due to an earlier dispute. They also claimed that the attackers ran him over with a vehicle after beating him.

Police from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police reached the spot after receiving reports of a fight. Gurkirat was found seriously injured and was taken to a hospital by his friends, but he later died from his injuries. Officials said multiple people were involved in the incident, but no arrests have been confirmed so far.

Gurkirat was studying Business Management at Northern Lights College and worked part-time at a Walmart store to support himself. His family said he had spoken to his father just a day before the incident, and everything seemed normal.

His brother, Prabkirat Singh, said the family received the shocking news through a phone call from Gurkirat’s friends. He also claimed that some suspects were detained but later released. The police are waiting for the postmortem report before taking further action.

The case is now being handled by a major crimes unit, and authorities have asked anyone with information to come forward. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to bring Gurkirat’s body back to India, which may take several weeks.

Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the incident and assured full support to the family. This tragic case has once again highlighted the rising number of attacks on Indian students in Canada, raising concerns among families and authorities.
