Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Kill 18 in Karachi, Pakistan

At least 18 people have died after heavy rain and strong winds hit Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan. Officials said the deaths were caused by different incidents during the storm, including building collapses.

According to rescue teams, 13 people were killed when a wall collapsed on Wednesday. Reports say the victims had taken shelter inside the building to escape the rain. In other parts of the city, five more people, including two women, lost their lives due to storm-related accidents.

Weather experts said that while light to moderate rain fell across Sindh province, some areas of Karachi experienced much heavier rainfall. Rain in March is common in Punjab, but it is unusual in Sindh, making this event more surprising.

Officials from the Pakistan Meteorological Department said such extreme weather has not been seen in the region for a long time. They warned that changing weather patterns could lead to more such events in the future.

Pakistan is considered one of the countries most at risk from climate change. Many people live in poor conditions, and the country has limited resources to deal with natural disasters. Experts say climate change is making weather patterns more unpredictable, especially in South Asia.

In recent years, heavy rains and floods have caused major damage across the country. Last year alone, monsoon rains killed more than 1,000 people, showing how serious the situation has become.

Authorities are now urging people to stay alert and take safety measures as weather conditions remain uncertain.
