New Heat Safety Guidelines for Hajj Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

Post by : Bianca Hayes

In preparation for the Day of Arafah, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has released important guidelines focusing on the safety of Hajj pilgrims. They are recommended to stay within their Arafat camps until 4:00 PM on the ninth day of Dhu Al Hijjah to avoid direct sun exposure and extreme heat.

These precautions aim to protect pilgrims from heat stress as they partake in vital Hajj rituals during the hottest part of the day.

Moreover, the ministry confirmed that the sermon on Arafah Day will be broadcasted live through audio and visual systems in all camps, allowing pilgrims to listen comfortably without leaving their designated spots.

Pilgrims are also reminded to adhere to designated transportation schedules and movement plans. They are cautioned against entering traffic routes or unauthorized areas, as these actions may hinder effective crowd management and impede the flow of pilgrims between sacred sites.

Additionally, due to safety concerns stemming from overcrowding and heat, the ministry discourages climbing Jabal Al Rahmah.

Saudi authorities emphasize that adhering to these recommendations is crucial for a safe, organized, and peaceful Hajj for everyone while enhancing crowd control throughout the pilgrimage.
